THE ORIGINAL BOX BROTHERS
Edoardo Ferri guitar
Enzo Pietropaoli bass
Fabrizio Sferra drums
Opening the Musica Jazz festival in Lonato on 8 September will be the trio 'The Original Box Brothers', a very recent line-up born out of the intuition of drummer Fabrizio Sferra, a musician active on the scene since the 1970s, to form a trio with one of the most talented and interesting guitarists of the young generation, Genovese Edoardo Ferri and his lifelong companion Enzo Pietropaoli, with whom they form perhaps the longest-lived and most profitable rhythm section of Italian jazz.
The group's name comes from their first meeting place, a garage in a Rome neighbourhood, which later became a periodic appointment, a space where they could build 'Sound' with the spirit of a 'Garage Band', an unusual modality in jazz practice.
The group's language has a strong jazz matrix, but also great flexibility and an openness to contemporaneity; from Indie Rock to Progressive Country, where classic Jazz Standards coexist with Neil Youg, Radiohead, Elvis Presley and original compositions.
